Job Description

We work with prospective customers to help them navigate and evaluate our solutions so that any business can become a fintech.

We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.

The Solutions Specialist team works to accelerate revenue growth (both ACV and ARR) for Plaid’s Credit solutions by combining knowledge of Plaid’s products with knowledge of consumer credit–key prospects, macro trends, the competitive landscape, relevant platforms, competitive intel, etc.

You sell with expertise. Your deep product and market knowledge allows you to tailor solutions to customer needs, differentiating Plaid from competitors and becoming a trusted adviser to our prospects and customers.

You thrive in high-stakes sales cycles. You work with Sales (AEs/SEs) to create urgency, handle objections, and secure customer buy-in. You grow pipeline.

You develop strategies and playbooks to generate expansion and new opportunities, and execute them in collaboration with Sales (AEs, SEs, NBRs) and Product Marketing (PMM). You build a brand in your market space.

You participate in industry events, speak at conferences, visit partners and customers in your space, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the complete sales funnel for our Credit products & features (building pipeline, selling, signing deals).
  • Partner with Account Executives, Account Managers, Sales Engineers, Sales Leaders, Product Managers and Product Marketing to hit Credit revenue goals.
  • Focus on sales readiness for bringing new products & features to market (post-MVP products -- beta stage and beyond).
  • Responsible for authoring or updating the sales playbook that will enable scaling of early product sales to repeatable motion by scaled sales org (e.g. developing the GTM playbook, co-selling until product maturation).
  • Scale and enable a sales process across many different customer types and sellers.
  • Work cross-functionally to improve the client onboarding experience as they build with Plaid, collecting and translating customer and partner feedback into meaningful product insights for our Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of work experience, with 5+ years of sales experience in a sales, account manager, sales engineer or sales specialist role (quota carrying) and a strong track record of closing deals and/or supporting deal closure.
  • Deep experience and market knowledge within the credit and lending space.
  • Excitement about fintech, the future of our financial system, and expanding access/affordability of credit.
  • Demonstrated sales abilities, with a track record of closing deals.
  • Desire to engage deeply with cross-functional partners across GTM, Marketing, and Product – and build an in-depth understanding of how our solutions work and deliver value to customers.
  • Strong presence and verbal communicator – comfortable engaging with business leaders, both internally and externally.
  • Thoughtful strategic thinker with a bias for action; comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment with a high degree of ambiguity.
