We are seeking a Power Electronics Firmware Engineer with experience in power electronics control and real-time embedded systems . You will collaborate with power electronics, control, and electrical engineers to implement, test, and optimize firmware for our mass-produced battery storage systems , ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. This role is ideal for someone experienced in taking products from prototype to mass production and familiar with safety-critical embedded software in a regulated environment . Responsibilities Develop real-time firmware for power electronics control, including inverter control, battery management, and grid interconnect algorithms. Collaborate with engineers to implement DSP/Microcontroller-based control algorithms (e.g., PWM, phase-locked loops, active/reactive power control). Ensure firmware compliance with safety-critical standards (e.g., UL 1741, IEEE 1547, ISO 26262). Work with hardware teams on sensor selection, validation, and hardware improvements. Integrate firmware with hardware, including custom PCBs and power systems. Implement diagnostics, fault detection, and recovery mechanisms. Conduct HIL testing, embedded simulation, and field validation. Develop bootloaders, OTA update mechanisms, and secure firmware signing. Debug firmware issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debugging tools. Document firmware architecture, control logic, and compliance considerations. Required Skills / Qualifications 5+ years in embedded firmware development for power electronics, inverters, or motor control. Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, including real-time constraints and debugging. Experience with control algorithms for inverters, converters, or battery systems. Familiarity with DSP, microcontrollers, and FPGA-based control. Experience in safety-critical, regulated environments. Hands-on debugging experience with embedded tools. Strong understanding of power electronics principles, including PWM, SVM, power factor correction, and grid sync. Preferred Qualifications Experience with mass production firmware development. Experience with HIL testing, MATLAB/Simulink, or model-based design. Knowledge of ARM Cortex-M, TI C2000, STM32 microcontrollers. Embedded cybersecurity practices, including secure bootloaders and firmware updates. Experience with communication protocols like CAN, SPI, I2C, Modbus. Understanding of fleet management for distributed energy systems.
