Compensation Range: $16-18 hourly

Compensation will be dependent upon geographic region, education, and experience

Job Description

This position is supervised by the Director of Nursing, however on a day to day basis, the nursing assistant may be given direction by the RN/LPN on duty. Medical Assistants are cross-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties which, by design and intent, assists nursing staff accomplish a variety of patient related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Performs administrative duties such as welcoming patients and visitors, answering department phones, assisting with discharge or transfer procedures.
• Responsible for taking patient history and preparing patient for examination. 
• Assisting the physician during examinations.
• Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens. 
• Transmitting prescription refills as directed by physician. 
• Responding to patient call bells timely. 
• Administering medications as directed by physician.
• Instructing patients about medications and special diet needs.
• Ensuring all documentation is timely and according to established protocols. 
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job. 

This is a full time position that will work evening/ night shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Must have experience dispensing and administering oral and injection medications
• Certified as a Medical Assistant preferred. 
• Previous experienced in substance abuse disorder preferred. 
• Basic Life Support/CPR is required. 
• Demonstrates an ability to interact professionally with adult patients and their families. 
• Presents with a recognition of and ability to function within a team concept. 
• Possesses skills necessary to accurately take and document vital signs. 
• Demonstrates ability to integrate disease concept education. 
• Displays good listening and observation skills. 
• Demonstrates sufficient communication skills to ensure effective verbal and written reporting.
