Position Title: Firefighter/Paramedic
The Village of Franklin Park Fire Department is currently hiring Firefighter/Paramedics. We currently have 2 open positions. Candidates are required to complete the NTN FireTEAM exam, PSSA, and PHQ to be considered for this position.

Salary Information: $67,045 - $99,064 (Currently Under Negotiations)
Department Overview: The Franklin Park Fire Department is a career Department that includes one Fire Chief, 3 Battalion Chiefs, 9 Lieutenants, and 30 firefighters/paramedics operating out of two stations that are staffed 24 hours per day on 3 shifts. All personnel are certified as firefighters, EMTs, and/or paramedics by the State of Illinois and licensed by the Loyola Hospital System.
Our primary response to a fire incident is two Engines, one Truck, one Ambulance, and one Command Vehicle. Typically, we respond with a fire apparatus and ambulance to most emergencies and ambulance requests. The Department runs an average of 4,000 calls per year, providing the full range of services to the community (fire suppression, advanced life support EMS, Hazardous Materials, water rescue, and all of the technical rescue disciplines).
Area Information: Franklin Park is the fifth largest industrial community in the State of Illinois. It is approximately 4.77 square miles with a residential population of 18,444 and a working population of 150,000. We have two major rail yards and proximity to the airport, plus crossing highway transportation. We border the southeast corner of O'Hare International Airport and have one of the busiest interstate systems in the country which is currently being upgraded to include bypasses and tie-ins with two expressways, western airport access, and direct access to the system from our Village.

Job Requirements

Age:
Must be at least 21 years at the time of application. Must be under 35 years old on the day of testing and at such time as the final eligibility register is posted, unless they have been certified and employed as a full-time Firefighter for a municipality or Fire Protection District in the State of Illinois, or are otherwise exempt by the State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6

Citizenship Required:
Must be a U.S. Citizen

High School Grad / GED:
Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.

Driver's License:
Must possess a valid Driver's License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver's License upon time of hire.

Ability to Read/Speak English:
Yes

Vision:
Must pass the pre-employment physical

Necessary Certifications:
Candidates must be certified as an EMT-Paramedic by the State of Illinois at time of application

Additional Requirements:
Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 lL 5/10-2.1-6.
Residence: State of Illinois
